Dickson is an HKSN alumnus. After his successful academic journey toiling through Microbiology and Immunology program, he settled himself successfully at University of Toronto to earn his Doctor of Pharmacy.

Tell us about what you studied at McGill.

I studied Microbiology and Immunology in the Faculty of Science at McGill.

What have you been currently working on after graduation?

I am currently pursuing further studies in the Doctor of Pharmacy program at University of Toronto. When I’m not sleeping, I’m probably in the library cramming for upcoming finals. Not much has changed from McGill.

What are pros and cons about your program?

Pros:

MIMM was a very intense program.

It was definitely a challenge to get out of the program with a good GPA but the program only made me a tougher person.

The skills I gained from that program really help with my learning style right now. A lot of Pharmacy is understanding and applying concepts. After going through MIMM (Immunology), I realized how much understanding a concept helps with memorization.

The only con I could think about my program was how much time I devoted to studying. Granted, I did procrastinate a lot, I wish I had spent more time socializing… outside of the library.

What were some valuable involvements at school that taught about yourself and oriented your goals?

Join clubs, as an executive or even just a member. The best way to meet new people is attending social events.

HKSN helped me connect with so many people outside of my program. I made some really good friends from being an exec.

There’s some people that I couldn’t imagine my life without and it is really thanks to HKSN that I have met these people.

What advice would you give to current undergraduate students at McGill?

Explore Montreal, get out of that bubble!

Montreal is an amazing city full of culture that I honestly took for granted until I left.

Being born in Montreal, I never really explored the city… I had just assumed I’ve seen it all. A city like Montreal, there’s always something new to see! The McGill Bubble is just a small portion of this culturally rich city.
