If you want to have your own little ~food crawl~ to celebrate the end of your midterms (and get enough nutrients for your soon-to-be-dead brain during finals, rip), make sure to read this blog post until the end. We’re featuring 3 different restaurants, in the vicinity of 3 different metro stations: Dobe and Andy at Place d’Armes/Place des Arts, Ben & Florentine at McGill and Chicha Donburi at Guy Concordia.

Dobe and Andy

Tel: (514) 861–9958
Opening hours: Monday -Sunday, 8:00 AM -7:00 PM
Address: 1111 St Urbain St, Montreal, QC H2Z 1Y6

Cantonese style restaurant right beside the warm cozy pathway to Chinatown that serves go-to-comfort-canto-food.

Dish 1: Chasiu and Chicken Rice

Can’t decide between Chasiu or Chicken on your rice? Dobe and Andy got you covered with their delicious chasiu and chicken rice! Protein on protein topped with green onions is the way to go.

Dish 2: Stirred Fried Beef Noodles

A classic dish for a classy you! Beef and bean sprouts stir-fried on an open fire that marinates harmoniously into flat rice noodles. A perfect savory carb dish to balance out any other dishes.

Dish 3: Chicken Leg

Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside. Use your fork, crack open that crispy layer of skin, and open up a treasure trove of tender chicken meat.

Dish 4: Butter Toast

Simple, yet poignant. This toast should be eaten with fillings, simply adding a layer of butter and a hint of sugar can elevate anyone’s toast tasting experience. Imagine a warm, light, crispy exterior with a buttery, melty, sugary (but not too much) interior. HEAVEN.

Beverage: Ice Lemon Tea

Pair the whole meal with a refreshing iced lemon tea that’s made from aromatic black tea and freshly squeezed lemon. It’s perfection to a tea!

Ben & Florentine

Tel: 514–395–0222
Opening hours: Mondays-Fridays: 6:00AM-3:00PM, Saturdays-Sundays: 7:00AM-3:00PM
Address: 1215 Rue Mansfield, Montréal, QC H3B 4G8

If you want to look like a wholesome SNACC in the morning, have brunch at Ben & Florentine near McGill metro station!

Dish 1: Blueberry Smoothie

Let’s start off with a blueberry smoothie, shall we? This smoothie blends blueberries, strawberries, bananas, and pineapple juice — if this doesn’t sound slurp-able (yes, I made that up) to you, I don’t know what would. The sweet and tangy taste of finely picked blueberries will wake you up, and help you transition into a productive day.

Dish 2: Délicé Sante

There are two types of people in this world — ones who wake up at 5AM for daily yoga, and ones who try, but end up sleeping until 1PM (aka me). For either type, I recommend Délicé Sante — a healthy, lacto-ovo vegetarian-friendly dish that won’t overwhelm your digestive system with grease. The highlight of the dish is definitely the two poached eggs, since WOAH LOOK AT DAT SEXY EGG Y’ALL!! …Oops seems like I got too egg-cited, but just look at the perfect runny consistency!?

Dish 3: Gourmandise

Unsure about choosing between a sweet or savory dish? B&F gotchu with their Gourmandise. To please your sweet tooth, indulge in their freshly cooked waffle drizzled with white AND hazelnut chocolate sauces (Wow two types? So generous) and topped with almonds. If you start to crave more salt, bite into their perfectly crisp bacon, beautifully grilled sausages and of course — cute lil’ eggs. Just try to name a more iconic trio, you can’t, we’ve tried.

Chicha Donburi

Tel: (514) 638–6626
Opening hours: Monday — Thursday, 11:30 AM — 9:30 PM, Friday 11:30 PM — 10 PM, Saturday 12–10 PM, Sunday 12–9 PM
Address: 1433A Bishop St, Montreal, QC H3G 2E4

Why is this place so aesthetic and KAWAII? Enjoy delicious Japanese fusion appetizers, mains, drinks and even dessert at Chicha DonbUWUri~~

Dish 1: Tender Fried Chicken Don

Tender chicken marinated and seared, on top of warm white rice with sides of cream corn and lettuce topped with kewpie sauce. This is truly the Don of umami.

Dish 2: Miso Cucumber

FACT: Miso is healthy, cucumber is healthy, therefore this appetizer is EXTRA beneficial for your health! Not only so, but miso topped with a bit of chili sauce also really brings out another layer of flavor for the plain Ol’ cucumbers.

Dish 3: Yam Fries

Why get french fries when you can YAM FRIES! Potatoes come in all shapes and forms, and it doesn’t get more delicious or healthy than sweet potatoes AKA yam!

Dish 4: Matcha Lava Cake

Can we just take a second to appreciate this beautiful moment… LOOK AT THE LAVA FLOWWWW! Soft matcha sponge cake with a warm melty matcha chocolate filling oozing out. SO HAWT.

Beverage: Oolong Cheese Tea

The newest trend of cheese foam drinks has descended upon Montreal! Finally! Roasted oolong tea with a layer of creamy sweet cheese foam to top it off. Stick a straw in there and mix it up to turn it into an upgraded version of Oolong milk tea!

That’s a wrap for our triple foodie spotlight, hope you enjoyed the ride! Now you’ll know, if you’re ever nearby Place d’Armes, Place des Arts, McGill or, Guy Concordia metro stations, you won’t need to stop and think about where to grab a bite. The spots we’ve written about should satisfy just about any foodie, whether you’ve got a sweet tooth, a salty palette, or a belly for brunch we’ve got you covered. Stay tuned for future food blogs as we cover more of our favorite eats!
